For some reason, when I run into the kindred phenomenon for my crud, I keep thinking of some (pardon the goofiness of the visuals) Paul Simon lyrics (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKcse3kCBso):

That delightfully weary aggrieved way he says "Is this my problem? Is this my fault?" captures so much of the experience.

Maybe the oppressed of the world need a group deal on self-heating branding irons that say BRANDED BY A SUBJECT, NOT AN OBJECT.
