Dreamwidth Question

So, people keep talking about getting invite codes via Dreamwidth, something I haven't yet experienced (beyond my first).

Are those of you who get them subscribing with money at this point?

(asking because I wouldn't mind having a couple invite codes to hand out, and if I need to subscribe to get them, that's okay...just need to know).

A number of folks are getting codes from places like dw_codes (http://dw-codesharing.dreamwidth.org/).
I think the folks who got a DW during closed beta (as in, before they did the openID thing) got a bunch already and those of us who got the openID DWs will get codes in the next wave.
They said on the dw_news comm somewhere that they'll run the numbers (free:paid journals) in a few days (or next week?) and then send out another wave of invite-codes to folks. They have to make sure they don't grow too fast after all.

Personally, I've been sending folks to the codesharing comm since I also don't have any codes yet (though I requested some today).

I got my code from registering and authenticating an OpenID; I haven't had it long enough to be given codes.

Yeah, that's how I got mine. I've just seen several people talk about DW giving them more codes, and I wanted to see what was up.

After using that invite, you should have some more by now. I had 5 on the first day, and I just got 2 more recently.

i requested one code and they gave it to me within 12 hours. maybe i could have requested more, but one seemed like a fair number.

Yeah, thanks to Drakyn, I was able to go request one, and got two within 15 minutes. Probably was pure luck.

I got my code a few days after registering using my LJ as OpenID. I think when you get a 'proper' account you get five to give away too. :o)

No, proper as in 'not logging in using OpenID' - an account where you actually have your own journal.

Oh, I have that, but I don't have five invites... I don't think everyone got them.

I had two invites that I requested after Drakyn pointed out where to go.

I was given two invite codes a couple of days after upgrading to a paid DW account. The explicit reason in the email was as a thank you for upgrading.
